"SOA evolves in a set of micro domains," stated Intel's Joshua Painter, as he examined the state of SOA practices at SOA World Conference & Expo, in San Jose, CA. Despite the many instances of SOA that are emerging within the global 2000 today, the ability to leverage common services and a common metadata layer in a secure and scalable manner is paramount, but rarely addressed.
SOA is moving from projects to the enterprise, and while many attempt to approach this problem only at the project levels, the issues around service and information sharing quickly become something that spans the entire business. Businesses need to establish an enterprise-level perspective and how SOA can meet the needs of business.
